Cortney is a rare find in the Austin area with her specialty in apraxia treatment. Highly recommended!

My son has been attending speech therapy with Cortney via Zoom for the last couple months and we have already noticed... improvements in his speech. Cortney is patient, attentive, and makes class fun - this is important since having a 4 year old sit still in front of a computer is no easy feat. We have been looking for a long time for a good speech therapist for our son as he has autism and is non-verbal. It has... been difficult, but we finally found Cortney and Sol Speech and it has been such a blessing. She not only works hard with our son but also keeps us up to date on his progress as well as how we can reinforce his therapy. Our last speech therapist would not update us on progress and would cancel the sessions abruptly at least 2x a month. Cortney goes above and beyond, thinking of ways to reach out to our son. She treats him at his ABA clinic and has arranged times that we can participate virtually as well. Every day she has seen our son she keeps us in the loop and has improved his verbal progress and built new strategies to try beyond our prior therapist. She is reliable, organized, and extremely thorough with our son creating new ways to reach him that no other specialist has. The most important thing is that our son loves her. He is shy but has lots of energy and is very open hearted when he finds good people. He has opened his heart to Cortney since the first day and this says so much to us. Cortney has 10 years’ experience with speech therapy, but you would think it's her first day based on her enthusiasm and love of working with children like our son. Other moms and parents that I have spoken to are blown away with her, and they are very grateful and feel the same way we do. Our son is our whole world, so I always refer to Cortney and her company to meet their needs.read more

My son was not talking until 3 years old. He could do only mmm sounds. We were not sure of the reason because he was... born different. With Cortney magic happened! After couple of weeks of therapy she found a way to force him to say his first letters and then words! Everything was in a fun way, they were playing a lot and she also taught me how to talk correctly with my son! Now he is 9 yo. He speaks 3 languages, learning language number 4 and he is singing! If you’ve seen him before, you wouldn’t believe that.Strongly recommend! Btw, before we started therapies with Cortney, we were supposed to go to special needs school. We were looking for talking devices. We switched to Sol starting in May and it's now July and we started seeing exponential growth with our son's... vocabulary. We started seeing his improvement in just three weeks going twice a week. This is his third speech pathologist and Brandi is the best. We are so happy we switched to Sol. It's also very convenient that they meet him in his school in his environment versus taking him to a clinic with mom and dad hovering over him. I think that makes a huge difference. Our daycare told me that Sol was already seeing a child at our daycare so I decided to try them even though they are... out of network for us. We had previously been at another clinic but chose to take a break for various reasons. I was able to communicate with their office via email over the weekend and got set up for the following week. I was able to sit in on one in person session and now 2 virtual sessions. I saw significant progress in my 5 year old in just the first week! Nicole had been given his previous report but was able to accurately assess the other things he needed to work on. Their out of network rate is not more than what I was already paying and they visit him at daycare!read more

We were very nervous about... finding speech therapists in our new city that were experts in the field, but after extensive research, I came upon Sol, and I am so grateful and happy we did! Since August, our son’s speech has exploded - he can tell us his wants and needs, speak in sentences, and has an extensive vocabulary. Therapists, Cortney and Nicole, share weekly updates so we know what he’s been working on and understand his progress and goals. They are communicative and are passionate about what they do and the kids they work with. Also, they make their sessions super fun to ensure our son stays engaged. If your child has Apraxia, she is who you need to go to. I wasted a lot of valuable time taking my son to speech... clinics where he got typical speech therapy, which is so different than what Apraxia kiddos actually need and improve with. She knows her stuff, is so professional and kind. We are almost a couple of months in to seeing her 4 times a week and my son really wants to see her (and her dog) each and every time and is making great progress! Cortney is fantastic. We have seen huge progress with our 2 1/2 year old daughter just in the first month of therapy.... Within the first evaluation she was able to identify things that were completely overlooked by other speech therapists. She has provided clear goals, direction and a plan for therapy and has us as the parents work towards goals on the home front. Cortney Lhota at Sol Speech & Therapy Is by far the most thorough, knowledgeable and honest speech therapist I have... worked with in Austin. I have two daughters (ages 2 and 4) who both require speech therapy services. Cortney not only provided an in-depth evaluation of both of my daughters, but was honest in the amount of speech therapy and type of therapy sessions she believed were beneficial to each child. Specifically, with my limited knowledge of apraxia I truly felt my youngest daughter met the criteria. Prior to starting speech therapy services with Cortney, my daughter was being treated at a large hospital group. Our care was inconsistent and I felt that my intuition and concerns were not being heard. Cortney is the exact opposite! Based on her knowledge and experience, she was able to determine in her evaluation, that my intuition was correct and that my daughter does have childhood speech apraxia. Many providers are not knowledgeable on childhood speech apraxia and often will not provide a diagnosis at an early age, despite the child exhibiting the symptoms. As a result of Cortney’s diagnosis, we are able to address my daughter’s apraxic needs and provide essential early childhood intervention! After each session with my children, Cortney always provides me with updates and tasks I can work on at home with each of them. Her transparency and communication is unparallel to any other speech therapist In Austin. In conversations with Cortney, her love and passion for this field is extremely apparent. I highly recommend Cortney, should your child require speech therapy services.read more

Before I reached out Sol Therapy, I did quite a long time research on different organizations. Sol gave me the best... experience. We initial contact via email on 04/06 . All setting up process are so clear and easy to be done online.Brandi did the speech evaluation at my place on 04/27. she is very professional and speak out her observations in a very straightforward way. we are a bilingual family (English and Mandarin), so she also did some research on non-English speakers therapy after the visit and gave me her conclusion the next day. Fortunately, my boy does not need speech therapy based on the test scores which really relief me.Cortney and Brandi are so communicable and responsible. Though we don't have the chance to use their service, but I believe Sol Speech & Language Therapy will be a good choice for families with any concerns or issues on speech delay or disorder.read more

Cortney is amazing! When my daughter started therapy, I was one of few who could understand what she was saying. I... often had to translate when someone would ask me "what did she say?" Cortney quickly identified the letter sounds that were giving my daughter the most problems and created a plan to correct them-quickly. My daughter became more confident during therapy and her speech became more clear quickly. I no longer had to translate for her as others could converse with her. Brandi Mills is an amazing therapist! She has worked with all 3 of my boys and they all love her. From speech to... feeding therapy she has a way of connecting with the kids. Making an individual plan for each of my kids that helps them thrive on their terms. Learning the way that works the best for them. My oldest son who's autistic was the first one to work with Brandi and he was a picky kiddo at the time. Her kindness was so welcoming and he picked up on that. He was non verbal and that changed quickly with the help of Brandi. She helped us through my 6 year old having tongue tie surgery. Teaching him the correct stretches to use afterwards to avoid scar tissue. Working on his pronunciation of words due to his speech delay and tongue tie. She was even able to get my very picky 3 year old to try new foods during his feeding sessions. His favorite time of the week was getting to see her. She makes learning and working fun for the kids. We initially came to Cortney for an evaluation for suspected Childhood Apraxia of Speech. It is a rare motor speech... disorder and after doing a lot of research on my own, I knew we needed to find someone who specializes in motor planning speech therapy. She immediately recognized that my son presents with CAS and has been providing therapy for him twice per week for the last two months and I already recognize progress with varying sounds, more syllables, and more words per sentence. Sol speech therapy has been so helpful for our 2 year old to help him get up to speed after his ear tubes surgery. We... went to another (highly rated, I might add) speech therapy center in austin before finding Sol, and every session we left feeling like it was a waste of time. With Sol, every session is so fun and helpful. Ms. Brandi is so fun and full of energy! She not only teaches our son, but she really teaches my husband and I different ways to encourage language. On top of speech, she has also helped us with picky eating! We cannot be more happy with the service she has provided to our family. Also, I love that she comes to our house. It’s not covered on insurance, but the sessions are less than $100 each. For not being covered, the quality of service provided, AND coming to the house, it feels like a bargain.
