What Is Social Thinking?

Social Thinking is a protocol designed to help children and teenagers better understand themselves and their place in the world around them.

For some children, navigating social situations can be difficult.

The Social Thinking model works toward helping children and teenagers develop their language skills, as well as their cognitive and learning abilities. These techniques have been developed with a wide variety of different learning styles and neurodivergences in mind. That means the Social Thinking program here at Sol Speech and Language Therapy can help your child regardless of whether they have:

They can also help if your child doesn’t have any of the above conditions, but is just having trouble developing their social skills.

Sol Speech and Language Therapy offers two different speech therapy for kids social skills groups – one for beginners, and one for intermediate level learners (typically 7+ years). Upcoming social skills group dates are below. Please email hello@solspeechandlanguage.com for more information. Groups are private pay only.

Beginners Social Skills Support Groups For Young Children

Is your child struggling to build their social skills?

If so, Sol Speech & Language Therapy can help.

Social skills support groups for young children at Sol Speech & Language Therapy are based on the We Thinkers! series. This approach helps children build the foundations of the social skills they’ll use throughout their lives.

  • Self awareness
  • How to understand other peoples’ perspectives
  • How to solve social problems
  • How to better understand their own and others’ emotions
  • How to build and maintain interpersonal relationships
  • How to behave and perform in a classroom setting

Your children will work with a trained and licensed speech language pathologist to work through social concepts, building their understanding of emotional learning, and building their social competencies.

In the end, your child will walk away with a better understanding of the social world around them, giving them a stronger start in their academic life and beyond.

Each group is led by a certified speech language pathologist as well as an assistant, and will have a maximum of 4 other children. This ensures your child will get plenty of one on one time, while also getting the chance to practice their social skills with other kids their age.
